little...

home office female text

Hey Reader,

As we countdown to our next country (we only have 3 weeks left in Vietnam), I've been reflecting on our time here.

This morning, while making my coffee, I had a revelation about the little things that make a difference in our lives.

You see, I used to have these two beautiful coffee mugs back in Australia that brought me so much joy every morning.

Unfortunately, due to luggage constraints when we left, I had to leave them behind (literally throwing them out at the airport hotel - talk about last-minute decisions! 😅).

It's amazing how something as simple as a favorite mug (paired with your fav coffee) can impact the start of your day, right?

You know how the saying goes...

"It's the little things that make a difference."

This got me thinking about email marketing (stay with me here!) and how the little things make a HUGE difference there too.

Here's what you need to know:

Microsoft is rolling out major changes to their email platform TODAY (Outlook and Hotmail), putting a massive emphasis on email engagement.

This is huge because:

  • It affects you if you use Outlook/Hotmail (you won't receive the emails you want if you don't engage with them)
  • It impacts your deliverability if your subscribers use corporate email addresses (hint: most use Outlook)

Want a super simple way to boost your engagement?

Here's my favorite trick:

Set up what I call the "Hey Email" - it's genius in its simplicity.

Follow these steps:

  • Set it to trigger 2 hours after someone joins your list
  • Subject line is simply "hey"
  • No links in the email (except for your unsubscribe link in the footer)
  • Content - Just a quick check-in asking if they got their freebie
  • Ask them to reply with a yes/no

This simple email dramatically increases both engagement AND deliverability, especially for Outlook/Hotmail users.

See how this strategy works in action.

Quick Action Steps:

  1. Set up your "Hey Email" today
  2. Use this approach before launches or promotional periods to boost open rates
  3. Make sure your email technical setup is solid (DKIM, SPF, etc.)

Speaking of technical setup - if you're not sure whether you've got all the proper authentication in place, hit reply and I'll connect you with my amazing email expert who can help get everything set up correctly.

Your email service provider doesn't handle everything automatically, so this is super important.

Take care

Lise xoxo
